Fuzhou Zixi
Zixi County is located on the western slope of the Wuyi Mountains at the junction of Fujian and Jiangxi provinces. The Wuyi Mountains stretch across the northeastern to southwestern parts of the county, forming a terrain that is high in the southeast and low in the northwest. In the central part, there is a raised belt consisting of Chuyun Peak, Lion Rock, Tianzi Peak, and the Thirty-Six Peaks, which divides the county into eastern and western parts. The northeastern part is surrounded by layers of mountains on the east, west, and south, with major peaks including Hedu Peak, Huanglian Pit, Yuefeng Mountain, Wild Chicken Peak, Paijian Peak, Litou Peak, and Bijia Peak, all of which are over 1000 meters in elevation. The northeastern border of the western half has a branch of the Wuyi Mountains and Chuyun Peak sloping southwest, with the terrain gradually becoming flatter, forming mountainous and hilly areas. Major peaks include Dashan Peak, Dazhu Mountain, Hudun Ridge, Hulu Ridge, Luohan Peak, and Hulu Peak. The Ouxi, Gaotian Stream, and Tongbu River, originating from here, meander through the larger valleys of Hengshan, Ouxi, and Gaotian, which are distributed among the low mountains and hills.
Zixi County has a subtropical humid monsoon climate, with an average annual temperature of 16.9°C, an average annual precipitation of 1929.9 millimeters, an average annual sunshine duration of 1595.7 hours, an average annual relative humidity of 83%, an average frost-free period of 270 days, and an average of 88 foggy days per year.
Zixi County was established in the sixth year of the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty, over four hundred years ago. In this land embraced by pure water sources and fertile soil, the multi-flower Polygonatum grows leisurely. They not only absorb the essence of heaven and earth but also draw the unique spirit and charm of the Wuyi Mountains. Each Polygonatum plant seems to be a carefully crafted work of art by nature, with a full shape, warm color, and rich nutrition and unique medicinal value contained within. It is this good environment that has created the extraordinary quality of Zixi multi-flower Polygonatum. According to research, wild Polygonatum was first discovered in the deep mountains of Zixi over 2000 years ago.
